I really enjoyed my time with Gary, and it's good to know he's back from Florida, and the mini-golf is back in business. I hope you got some pictures of your family playing "Spooky Golf", because when I talked to Gary last fall, he was thinking about selling the place, as long as the new owner promised not to tear down all of his art.

My family, brother and nephew discovered Spooky Golf quite by accident about five years ago, and it became the stuff of family legend. My parents stil live in Rockford, and this weekend we were back for 4th of July celebrations and decided to try and seek out the place again. It was still there, much as we'd remembered it but with some different memorabilia around. We paid $3 each for a round of mini golf and Gary told us to play for as long as we liked. He also showed us one of the kit cars out back which he said he'd like to work on in the fall, but it had been too hot to work on just recently. We spent a very enoyable hour or so just chatting and putting and looking at all the found art. And swatting mosquitos!

It was great to discover your blog posts and to know that there are others who enjoy this place, as we do, for its utter "uniqueness." We have a great affection for Spooky Golf and have enjoyed discovering it and its gentle soul of an owner.
